We focus on building positive, lasting family skills in areas like:
"I'm not exaggerating when I say that I don't know what we would have done without James. I'm very grateful that we found him. He has helped our family in so many ways and has made a huge positive impact on our lives. I have no reservations about wholeheartedly recommending James."
Although we call it "Parent Coaching," it's a family process that involves a coach sitting down with you and yours to understand the family dynamic and identify the factors that contribute to the undesirable behaviors and results. We then develop proactive and responsive strategies to improve your connection with your children. We guide them – and you – in learning the 5 SKILLS OF SELF-LEADERSHIP:
You and your coach typically meet once a week in your home, nearby community, or even virtually – whatever is most convenient for you. It's quick and easy to enter our program, and we offer flexible scheduling. Meetings usually start off lasting about two hours, then taper down to an hour or so once everyone "gets with the program." We strongly recommend and encourage you to maintain consistent contact throughout the training, and we will touch base with you regularly between scheduled meetings.
That depends on a number of factors, including the nature of the issues, how challenging the home situation is, and how willing each participant is to learn the skills and apply them, among so many other things that it's impossible to say for sure. What we can tell you, though, is that the families we've coached have reported almost immediate improvements in several areas. No matter the make-up of your family, we can help parents learn, refine, or master their skills within months – sometimes in weeks!
Our mentors excel where many others struggle because they are trained to handle any scenario without being reactionary. They are uniquely skilled at connecting with kids who are resistant, withdrawn, or oppositional. They are prepared, willing and capable of being present in every moment. Empathic, humble, caring yet strong and assertive, they know how to relate to your child no matter what they do or don't do, say or don't say. They are masters at teaching kids to develop the specific skills they need to gain confidence, feel safe, valued, and significant. They find creative ways to inspire and motivate kids who typically resist and are unwilling to get up and move, to try new things, or to overcome their fears and obstacles.
By becoming more confident in their significance and value, they'll learn to be more comfortable in any given situation. More responsible, resourceful, and resilient. They'll develop a better balance of work, play, rest, and study while learning to take better care of themselves through healthier eating, more exercise, and activity. They'll have more fun! They'll become better leaders, problem-solvers, and decision-makers, learn to practice self-acceptance, and how to communicate with and relate to you and others more effectively.
You’ll leave coaching with a clearer understanding of what’s driving the dynamic at home—and a plan you can actually use.
We currently have openings available and entering the program just requires an email to us. As mentioned, our schedule is flexible to suit you, and our programs are tailored to your family's specific needs too.
"My son wasn't following the rules at home and there was non-stop arguing. James and Shane helped us develop an action plan and also an approach that significantly reduced the tension in our home."
"Raising a child with special needs is not easy. It has taken its toll on our marriage and relationships within our family. We're starting to restore those relationships and I didn't know if that would be possible. This is all due to the coaching and constant communication that James invests in with us."
"James Giantis has been working with our son, who is now 23 years old, for almost six years. Over time, he was able to develop an excellent rapport with our son, who has high-functioning autism and learning disabilities. This was not an easy task, as our son is very withdrawn and difficult to engage, but James persevered and never gave up. Now, James is the person that our son feels most comfortable with, and the only person that he confides in."
