Our Foundation
The standard, the obstacles, and the process: the biblical framework beneath everything we do.
Living with intention through Biblical discipleship.
The Standard: What the Bible Commands
Believers need to know exactly what the Bible commands us to think, communicate, and do. Part of our process is helping you see clearly what the standard is.
Think
“We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right... think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).
Communicate
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up” (Ephesians 4:29). “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt” (Colossians 4:6).
Do
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says” (James 1:22).
The Obstacles: The Enemy, the Flesh, and Deception
Seeing the standard is only half the battle. You also have to see the obstacles clearly.
The wiles of the enemy
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood” (Ephesians 6:11-12). The enemy has tactics and strategies designed specifically to trip you up, and “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). We train you to recognize them.
The desires of the flesh
“The flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit” (Galatians 5:17), and Scripture names its works plainly (Galatians 5:19-21). The historic framework of the seven deadly sins, pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth, gives a thorough map of these fleshly desires, echoing “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” (1 John 2:16).
Deception
“The heart is deceitful above all things” (Jeremiah 17:9). Without honest counsel, we deceive ourselves. Our job is to hold up the mirror of the Word (James 1:23-25).
How We Work: Truth and Grace, Rightly Delivered
Growth requires role modeling, teaching, guidance, feedback, and even discipline, delivered with the proper balance of truth and grace, in the right way, from the right person.
Jesus came “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14), and we are called to speak “the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15). Correction is part of love: “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it” (Hebrews 12:11). And growth happens in relationship: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17).
We work alongside you, whatever the situation is. “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
The Goal: Obedient Followers Bearing Good Fruit
The aim is not information. It is transformation into more obedient followers of Christ who bear good fruit. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing... This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples” (John 15:5, 8).
Sanctification Is Real
The sanctification process is real, and the better you make sense of it, the better off you will be in it. “It is God's will that you should be sanctified” (1 Thessalonians 4:3), and it is a process, not a moment: “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6). We are “transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18). Our work is to help you understand that process clearly and walk it consistently.
